Week Four Vocabulary

13. Dow Jones- An indicator of the stock market based on the share value of the 30 top stocks listed in the New York Stock Exchange.
     * The Dow Jones is the most widely cited indicator of how the stock market is doing.

14. S and P 500- An index made up of 500 different stocks and is the benchmark of the overall market.
     * Today, I saw that the S&P 500 is down 2.5%

15. Russel 2000- An index measuring the performance of the 200 smallest companies.
     * Yahoo finance showed that today, the Russel 2000 is up 3% 

 

16. Treasury bond- A long term interest-bearing bond issued by the U.S. Treasury.
     * My neighbor was issued a treasury bond last month
